Unemployment seems to be a problem that is faced by many nations around the world. Whenever there is an economic downturn, people lose their jobs and unemployment rears its ugly head once more. An ever-recurring problem does not seem to have a proper solution.
Although the economic situation in the world does have an effect on employment, its impact on individuals is varied. While some people become the immediate preys of unemployment, others seem to thrive in any situation that they are placed under. No matter what circumstances they go through, they always come out on top, while others keep going down. We are not talking about those that come up by hook or by crook, but about the ones that come up through perseverance, patience and determination.
The concept “triumvirate” can be defined as a group of three people. This word is used in the Roman history to refer to the two significant triumvirates that made a huge impact on the history.
Probably, the most known and popular Roman ruler is Julius Caesar. A great deal of his popularity might also be due to Shakespeare’s portrayal of him in his plays. Nevertheless, Julius Caesar was one of the individuals in the first triumvirate. The other two were Gnaeus Pompey and Marcus Licinius Crassus. Among the three of them, they had military force, political influence and financial support to make the alliance work, which started in 60 B.C.
Animal testing is an extremely controversial topic with people having most divergent views. Some people feel that animals should not be used as guinea pigs for experimentation and that all animal testing should be banned. They feel that animals need to be treated in a humane manner and animal testing is a brutal way of treating them and, hence, should be stopped immediately. The people in the other camp feel that a lot of medical breakthroughs were possible only because of tests being conducted on animals. They feel that the benefits derived for mankind far outweigh the negative impact that the people opposing animal testing claim to have on animals.
The recent recession has managed to divide people into two categories. On the one side, there are those that have been totally devastated by the recession. Many have lost their jobs, homes, while some – even their families. They were the victims of negative circumstances, which were compounded by the recession. On the other side, there are those that made tremendous progress in the midst of this recession. Some have had job promotions and pay raises. Others have had their best years of business success during this period. Some have been able to make excellent profits by making valuable investments and acquisitions in the stock market and real estate.
The best day of my life was when I found out that I was not god. This might of course need some explanation on my part, but once you understand what I mean, you would get my drift. I grew up as a child with a lot of self-confidence. I was alone most of the time as I was living away from my parents with my grandfather. Despite being a small kid, I have been self-reliant in many things. I hardly went to others seeking for any kind of help. I tried to manage everything on my own. This was good in a way, but I also carried a lot of undue pressure, as I began to handle things on my own. In a way, I was the god of my life and I ran it the way I wanted.
The Odyssey is the entire story of how Odysseus got back home after the Trojan War in Greek mythology. The story narrates the various different trials and tribulations Odysseus had to go through during his adventurous journey home. The very first place he goes to is the land of the Ciconians. He destroys the village with the help of his men, but the next day he is defeated in battle, as more Ciconians arrive at the scene. Although some of his men are killed, he escapes with the rest of his people and goes to the land of the lotus-eaters. Some of his men want to stay behind after tasting the plant, but Odysseus manages to draw them away.
Ever since man emerged on our planet, the beauty of nature all around him has mesmerized him. The plants, animals, mountains, lakes and rivers, and all that he sees around him during the day inspire him to start singing a song. At night, the moon and the stars and all the hosts of heaven open up a totally new vision that is absolutely breathtaking. So, at night and day, man is struck with awe at the wonder of creation made by an unseen source. His heart rejoices in this beauty and he expresses it through poetry and song.
Centralization of any system is always a good idea, as it has a number of advantages. For instance, if an organization has many branches and each of them has a copy of the company’s rules and regulations, then whenever the rules change, each of the copies also needs to be changed. But if there is just one copy in the central office, which all the other branches could access online, then all the changes would need to be made only in that single copy. This can help avoid redundancy of information and, more importantly, prevent discrepancy of information in the multiple documents.
Many people feel uncomfortable when they see a couple where one partner is much older than the other one – irrespectively of who of them belongs to which gender. It just doesn’t occur for the majority that people belonging to different generations may have enough in common for creating a really serious relationship. The actual attitude towards this or that participant of such a relation differs with the person – some consider a younger one to be a fortune-hunter trying to win an older fool, or the older one is considered to be a “cradle-grabber” or something, appealed by the youth and beauty and trying to relive one’s own younger years. It isn’t usual for the onlookers to expand the realm of such relationship beyond sex and self-interest.
It may be a surprise for many people, but among the fifty or so countries using English as their official language the USA is not listed. The USA does not have the official language at all. After the War for Independence there was an initiative to make English the official language of the new nation, but it was brought down as undemocratic and threatening for the individual freedom. The American government back then was very particular about following the Constitution to the letter and refused everything that seemed to limit personal freedom.
