Education - Part 11
Since I was a child I was greatly interested in the world around me in all its respects, and I tried to get the knowledge of it in all the ways possible, reading books of all kinds, from adventure and sci-fi stories to newspapers and encyclopedias, conducting my own “scientific experiments”, watching the animals, plants and insects. When I grew up it all boiled away into two distinct passions: humanities and arts, with mathematics still interesting me greatly, although I understand that it is hardly my goal in life to make discoveries in this field.
A term paper is an academic assignment, which is supposed to be written during a term and is responsible for at least 20% of the mark the student finally gets. In a term paper the student researches at length some subject (event, notion, point of view), related to the work done within the academic term. Generally, it is several typed pages, organized in conformity with strict format, which is of no less concern for the one who writes it, than the paper’s actual contents. A term paper is rather close in meaning to a research paper, but these words are not exactly interchangeable.
For years supporters of two different approaches to sex education, that is pro-abstinence sex education and comprehensive sex education, have been involved in a blazing discussion. Those who advocate the first approach believe that abstaining from sex is the best way to avoid out of wedlock pregnancy, STDs and HIV. They also consider that providing children with abundant information about sex and related issues results in early sexual experimentation. However, this type of sex education does not seem to yield substantial results.
