Society & Family - Part 5
The profession of a teacher has been one of the most important and responsible ones in the history of mankind. A lot is changing in course of time, but the essence of a teacher’s vocation remains the same. He has to guide a person through the early stages of life and help children and teenagers form a strong personality and understand different unwritten laws of society. Below I will present the main criteria of teachers’ evaluation from my point of view.
Travelling is the kind of activity, which almost all the people love. For someone it is an opportunity to relax and abstract from everyday busy life. For others it is interesting to observe the way people of other cultures and mentality live. Some people consider it to be the best way to have fun and always try to visit as many clubs, pubs, restaurants and cafes as possible for their wallets and time limits.
Induced abortion has been practiced since ancient times and throughout the whole history it has never been completely supported or disproved. With the introduction of democratic governments, people began to fight for their rights even more than they had before, and this brought about the problem of the right to live of each and every person and whether people can deprive an unborn child of this right at their will. The issue is still one of the most topical ones and the modern society has subdivided into so-called pro-life and pro-choice groups.
Modern person has nowhere to hide from advertising in urban surrounding. When you go into any street, your eye automatically catches several advertisements and you get distracted from your thoughts and start thinking over their content. When you go somewhere by bus or metro, advertisements are also around you, and in these circumstances you pay even more attention to them, as you have more free time and usually don’t have any serious matters to think over. When you return home and turn on the TV – here it is again, interrupting the most interesting moment in the movie.
Internet is the phenomenon without which I cannot imagine my life. And according to statistics, almost two billion people (28,7% of population) around the world also can’t. It became an integral part of people’s daily lives, being a means of communication, work, entertainment, shopping and anything else. It is hard to believe that about 50 years ago it only started to develop.
About 15 years ago, when I was going to the second grade, there was a day which influenced my future greatly. Of course, at that moment I didn’t realize it, but it was so strong that I remember that feeling I experienced that day up till now and I am sure that I will never forget it.
On that day my grandmother invited her friend to us to drink some coffee. She came with her daughter who was a couple of years elder than me. After some conversations, which I don’t remember now, there was that moment. Mary, the daughter of my granny’s friend, found my English textbook and started reading some exercises from it. So far, I didn’t hear the English language much, as our teacher was often ill and my parents spoke only Spanish. Moreover, I didn’t like my English classes and this language seemed too boring for me to learn.
I believe that every person deep down his soul believes in love from the first sight at some stage of life. As for me, I am not an exception, and when I was a ten-year-old girl, I was also sure that such love exists and that sooner or later I would encounter it. Now a lot has changed, and I know from my own experience that this love exists, but not in the form I thought of when I was a child.
Women get maternity leave when there comes time to have a baby. They would normally avail of this leave a couple of days before the delivery date and continue on for a certain period of time after the baby is born. The duration of the maternity leave would differ from country to country and from state to state within the same country. Apart from maternity leave, paternity leave is also available. Not only is the mother allowed to take leave during pregnancy and child birth, but the father is also provided with a certain measure of the same benefits.
The concept of torture can take on many different connotations. It can actually mean different things to each person based on his/her belief system. And the term can also differ in meaning based on the context in which it is used. Some people would define torture as the unlawful misery inflicted upon an innocent person. Others might say that it is a punishment imposed upon a person as a result of his or her actions. Some people might even consider the use of force by law enforcement officials to get information from suspected criminals as torture.
Some people like to make a quick buck without toiling much. But the majority work hard to earn a living. Both of them cannot understand the other point of view. Those who don’t like to work cannot understand how the other group can toil all day long just to earn some money when there are other methods like lottery and gambling to make money quickly. Oh the other hand, those who believe in hard work cannot understand how people can hope to survive without working hard.
